Preparation

This first post will be irregular in comparison to how it will be in the future. So don't get used to this style of being all over the place.

My TEFL course began this weekend. Vietnamese language class began last week. It's gametime. Departure for a new life is roughly 6 months away. I finally feel as though this plan is actually going to be carried out. Since graduating last spring, the feeling of monotony has overcome my existence with working. I am happy to say I am a student again, soon to be a teacher. Being in the classroom again brings about motivation that was lacking. While at work I daydream about being in Cambodia or Vietnam, and after hours I am working on making these dreams come true. The TEFL course has been interesting thus far, which is well mirrored by interesting characters. Next weekend I will already begin a solo teaching lesson. This week will be all about planning.

Today I learned my first important lesson the hard way. Don't drink excessive amounts of alcohol before teaching children. I did already know this since I work with teenagers, but it was reiterated today when we had to simulate a class for kindergartners. The amount of energy and praise required is beyond the amount my hungover self ever wants to do again. Therefore, sorry friends, no more drinking on Fridays or Saturdays for me. Also, beginning February I will be initiating a new budget system for myself. Each day I spend money I will write the amount and what I bought on my calendar. I will also give myself a total of $20/week as spending money and once that runs out, I will have to wait the following week to access more. If anyone has any good budgeting techniques they use to cut down on their spending, please let me know. I can save money pretty well, but this month has been one of far too many needless expenditures.

My aching body needs to rest. Time to watch a movie and go to sleep. Goodnight World. And in the words of a wise man, Stay Classy San Diego.
